This Therapy Is For You If

  • You are a high-responsibility adult.
  • You are functioning outwardly, but internally you feel overwhelmed, numb, on edge, or exhausted.
  • You are navigating anxiety, panic, trauma, PTSD, or chronic stress.
  • You are dealing with workplace harm, family strain, or identity stress others do not see.
  • You want therapy that offers insight and structure, not only reflection.
  • You want tools you can actually use between sessions, without being buried in homework.
  • You want care that supports identity-related stress.

What This Therapy Does

This is trauma-informed therapy grounded in a real-world context. We take your nervous system seriously, and we also take your life seriously. That includes workplace stress, identity-based strain, family dynamics, and the practical reality of what you are carrying.

The goal is steadiness within your body and greater choice in your real life, not just insight.

How Therapy Works

Therapy is collaborative. We build a pace and plan you can actually sustain.

First Session: Getting Clear

We start with a free 20-minute consultation to determine fit. If we move forward, the first full session clarifies what you are navigating, what matters most right now, and what you want to change.

Intake stays focused and practical. We cover history when it is relevant, and we prioritize what will help you now.

Ongoing Sessions: Building Change

Most clients meet weekly or biweekly for 50-minute sessions by secure video. Some clients also have limited in-person availability in NYC.

Sessions are tailored to you. Some focus on trauma processing. Some build regulation and coping skills. Some focus on patterns, boundaries, and decision-making. We adjust as your life changes and your capacity returns.

Timeline and Progress

Many clients work with us for 6 to 12 months, though some choose shorter-term support and others stay longer.

Progress is not linear. Over time, you should notice you recover faster and respond differently to what used to derail you.

Therapy is helpful when life feels more manageable, not perfect.

Between sessions, homework is optional. If you want tools, we use them. If not, we keep the work in session.

What Changes When This Works

Change is not about becoming a different person. It is about having more capacity to navigate what life throws at you, and responding in ways that align with who you actually are.

Internal shifts:

  • Your nervous system spends less time in overdrive.
  • Panic and spirals decrease, and recovery is faster.
  • Sleep and focus improve.
  • Shame loosens its grip.
  • You feel more choice in your reactions.

External shifts:

  • Boundaries feel possible without collapse or over-explaining.
  • Communication gets clearer, at work and at home.
  • You notice harmful dynamics without internalizing them as your failure.
  • You stop living in constant triage.
  • Decisions come from steadiness, not survival.

These are not promises. They are common patterns when the work is a strong fit.

Clinical Approaches

Care at PAAPOY draws from evidence-based modalities tailored to what you need.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

We use EMDR to help your brain process stuck memories so they no longer replay with the same intensity.

Helpful for PTSD, single-incident trauma, and distressing experiences that still feel present.

Somatic Therapy

Nervous system-focused therapy

Somatic therapy works with how stress and trauma show up in the body.

We build capacity for regulation, steadiness, and safer embodiment over time.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Therapy with ketamine support, when appropriate

We provide psychotherapy during a ketamine-supported session when clinically appropriate.

Your prescriber manages medication. We provide preparation, therapy support, and integration. We do not prescribe or administer ketamine.

Trauma-Informed, Relational Therapy

The relationship is part of the work

You do not have to perform in therapy. We build trust, move at a pace your body can handle, and make room for what is hard to say out loud.

Together, we work on patterns, boundaries, and steadier ways to carry your life.

The approach is always in service of the goal: more steadiness, more clarity, and less time stuck in survival mode.
